Weingut Bianka & Daniel Schmitt
Bianka & Daniel Schmitt work together on their 15 hectare vineyard in the Flörsheim-Dalsheim region of the southern Rheinhessen. After meeting each other while pursuing careers in winemaking, oenology and viticulture they became passionate about natural wines – making wines without additives, fertilizers and pesticides – wines made with craftsmanship and in harmony with nature. They are part of a new wave of younger, innovative producers in the Rheinhessen that are changing the region’s bulk-wine reputation by working to reduce yields and produce terroir drive wines of high quality with as little intervention as possible.
The winery has been in the family for over 200 years and Bianka and Daniel have been working biodynamically for over a decade – they are one of only 80 producers in Germany to be Demeter certified (2012) and have been certified organic since 2007.
From early days of roughly 50,000 bottles to the now 150,000 produced each year, the wines are not only food friendly but made with precision and instinct – carefully and patiently watched over so as to develop their own unique character with each vintage. Wines allowed to be.
They are pure and fresh, full of life and personality.
